James C. Tai, Esq.
James grew up in Orlando, Florida after his family immigrated to the United States from Taiwan. He is a graduate the University of South Florida and St. Thomas University School of Law. Along with obtaining his Juris Doctorate, James also completed L.L.M. coursework in International Human Rights.
After graduating from law school, James worked in Hawaii as a dedicated immigration attorney. He has successfully represented clients before USCIS, Immigration court, Board of Immigration Appeals, Department of Labor and the Department of State. His experiences in Hawaii included working with clients from a variety of Asian countries (i.e. China, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, etc.) and Pacific Island countries (i.e. Tonga, Somoa, etc.).
Since returning to Florida, James continues to practice immigration law representing detained and non-detained clients before the Miami and Orlando immigration courts. He has many years of experience representing clients in removal proceedings in immigration court. James has been successful in representing clients in cancellation of removal, asylum, adjustment of status, withholding of removal, Convention Against Torture, I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions, and other immigration court cases. He has successfully represented clients from the Caribbean (Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, British Virgin Islands, etc. ), and Latin American countries (Cuba, Columbia, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, etc).
James is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is also member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and is an active member of the local chapter in South Florida. James serves as volunteer attorney for Florida Immigrant Coalition in Miami.
